Freedom Isn't Free

While on my lunch break yesterday I was driving along a major road and there on the corner is this woman carrying a sign saying "Free speech isn't free". So I'm like "huh, that's interesting". I mean the woman has a point. So then she turns the sign around and it says "1984 is here". Ok, now! I'm not going to go on and on about how 1984 is my favorite book (which it is) or that I fully agree with her (which I do) or the fact that my Boyfriend would disown me for both of those statements....

I DO want to point out that when a person stands at a smog filled corner for an entire day waving a sign with political innuendos there is usually a purpose, correct? So now... what was the point? Did she want me to read George Orwell? Check! Did she want me to fear for my freedoms? Check! Did she want to point out the negatives in our system? Check! But now what? Does she want me to sign up for something? Does she want support in a legal battle? OR did she just want to make me feel shitty about the world? I mean WHAT woman, what do you want?

That's all I have to say....

P.S. I tried to take her picture, but a republican with a Bush sticker cut me off.
